We had a storm and it took out my home PC. Not sure what happened – lightning, thunder, power blinked, power went out for several hours, power came back on, and everything came back up but my PC. I swapped out the power supply with a spare I had, no luck. I spent a little time trying to figure out what the issue was but I have had the PC for a good while, so I decided now was as good as anytime to replace it.

Last day of VSAN Training. Learning about some day 2 operations stuff this morning. Went through the high level overview of the process for properly powering down, and powering back up, a VSAN cluster. I am sure I am going to have a customer ask me about this eventually so just putting it here so I remember it.

Attending some VSAN training this week. Just a quick training tip, if they give you a bunch of pre-req courses prior to a class – don’t worry about completing them – it will all be reviewed – same talk track, same slides, etc. Other than the whole rehashing the pre-req stuff there is some good info. Here is one thing I picked up that I think I may have seen before, but forgot about, and I don’t think it was mentioned in the pre-req material.

Got a email from a customer trying to track down information on who deleted a VM from their environment. It wasn’t a critical VM, it was running some app the IT department was using, and they were able to restore it from a backup. Since the VM was running an app they were using they wanted to find out who deleted it so they could understand what the reason for deleting it was.
